In 2010, Bal Arneson's series Spice Goddess was launched on the US Cooking Channel and Food Network Canada. In 2011, Spice Goddess was nominated for a James Beard Award, and in 2012 for the life style category by NAMIC Vision Awards. Bal has appeared as a Judge on Iron Chef America, and has judged with Bobby Flay on Bobby's Dinner Battle. She has been one of the Primary judges for Cooking with Fire which aired nationwide in Canada.

Bal is the author of two best selling cookbooks: Everyday Indian and Quick & Healthy Indian which won the Asian Cuisine category prize for Canada by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in 2012. She is a columnist for the Province newspaper, Urbanspoon and National Post.

Twenty-three years ago, she came to Canada with no education, hardly any English and no family support. Her humble journey began from cleaning people's home as a single mom and learning English in the evening. Today, she has her Master's in Education and is a TV host, book author and mother of two amazing children. Bal's new show, Spice of Life with Bal Areneson, launched on the US Cooking Channel in January 2014, and her new cook book launches in spring 2014.
