As soon as you step in, the smell from the smoker hits you and makes your mouth water. Sides like the sweet potato casserole are a must when digging into the brisket.
Owner Christen Hagan has created a Southern getaway in the East Village at Double Wide. The drinks are creative and nostalgic, and the tasty bar food pairs perfectly with them. Double Wide doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it a great bar for a fun night.
For something unforgettable, check out City Grit. It’s a new concept in Manhattan, a “culinary salon” featuring unique dinners with Southern style, hosted by chefs. Every night is a different dining experience. There’s limited seating, so it’s something you need to book in advance.
This is a no-nonsense Southern spot in Harlem that is truly off the beaten path. Their menu features all classically Southern dishes in a relaxed setting. A few favorites include the mac 'n' cheese, fried whiting and lemonade pie. It’s home away from home!
Bobwhite combines a New York bistro-style layout with good ol' Southern cooking. It’s located in Alphabet City and is great for a quick bite. Their fried chicken tops the local lists, and their fresh salads and delicious pecan pie bread pudding have earned a lot of attention.
