Thirsty Thursday: A Beerly Legal Cocktail for the Super Bowl

It’s more than just alliteration; it’s a statement, a proclamation that Thursdays are when the weekend should really start. Kicking it off right is the key, and what better way than with a cocktail that not only takes the edge off, but tastes good too. A hard thing to disagree with, we know. Drink up, get down and go to sleep happy.

Super Bowl weekend is upon us, which means this weekend is all about this team vs. that team, crazy commercials, halftime shows and yadda yadda yadda. We get it. The Super Bowl is a pretty big deal when it comes to American entertainment. But Game Day also means it’s time to throw on a pot of chili, make some football-shaped foods and slug back a few (or more) beers!

Kick off your party with a Beerly Legal Cocktail that’s simple to prepare for a crowd and refreshing enough to quench your thirst after all those finger foods. This beer-based cocktail is a simple mixture of tangerine juice, an orange aperitif and your favorite brew. For this year’s Super Bowl showdown, don’t let the drinks be an afterthought. Mix up this football-friendly cocktail.

Bottoms up, folks!

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces fresh tangerine juice
  • 1 ounce orange aperitif, such as Campari or Aperol
  • Ice, for serving
  • 8 ounces light beer, such as Miller High Life
  • Maraschino cherry, for garnish

Directions:

Pour the tangerine juice and orange aperitif into a large pint glass filled with ice and stir. Pour over the beer to top and stir again. Set all self-judgment aside, and garnish with a cherry. Drink while eating a hot dog and toast to beer made bitter and better.
