The Craziest Food Mash-Ups

Mash-up, noun: a mixture or fusion of disparate elements, sometimes in the form of a doughnut and a croissant

Ever since that one sleepover in middle school, people have loved smooshing together foods that seemingly don’t belong just to see what happens. In recent years, this once beloved activity has started turning a profit. Ramen burgers the Cronut® and more have caused mass food hysteria, and the trend doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon. Not all mash-ups, however, cause lineups around the block. Here are some of the more oddball concoctions.

Mapo Chili Cheese Fries

Brooklyn’s King Noodle eatery is no stranger to crazy food mash-ups, as made evident by the kimchi carbonara topped with Doritos served there. This mash-up, however, of ultra-spicy Szechuan staple mapo tofu and chili cheese fries has got to take the mash-up cake.
