      Directions

      Place the sliced abalone into a grinder or food processor and mince. Once minced, place the abalone meat in a bowl and add the minced garlic, egg and bread crumbs. Mix thoroughly. Mold the mixture into palm-sized patties and place aside.

      Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the patties in the pan and cook for about 2 minutes on each side. Serve.

        Abalone is definitely not a common ingredient in Michigan. I found some when I was in Mexico. I added much more garlic than what was called for in the recipe and I used Italian seasoned Panko breadcrumbs. They came out a little dry. I should have cut back a little on the breadcrumbs. I topped them with some Sala Valentina and served a cucumber salad on the side. Overall a tasty dish. If I ever make them again, I will have to buy the abalone on-line. Not sure if the hassle is worth it.
