We ( the family and guests love this recipe. No other g.b. casserole after watching this episode of good eats five yrs ago. I also deconstruct this for a few guests. One asked if there is such a thing as g.b. casserole without the beans. For him the mushrooms sauce sprinkled w/onion topping. The mushroom mixture actually is an amazing soup. As far as the onion topping goes, check often, sliced so thin, the onions will burn quickly, somewhere about 15 minutes. Make extra onions, if you have munchers in the house. Onions also are a nice topping on soups or chili.thanks again Alton. Made this last week and it wasn't even Thanksgiving.
