I made this last week and it IS DELICIOUS!! I have given this recipe to a number of foodie friends since trying it. Greenville (SC has an Indian grocery store and I found the cumin seeds there. That grocery has better prices than those at other grocery stores for these ingredients. You can buy more for your money. I did nothing different from the recipe . . . followed it to the letter. I also found and purchased "spicy roti" at the same grocery store. It could have been more spicy for my taste but it was good. The owner's wife makes it everyday. You cannot go wrong with this recipe. I'm putting into my favorite recipe file (that I still need to put together!. Yum!!

Wow. I've had this chicken before. The members of our Mosque cook it but they use the whole chicken, bones and all. And I thought that it would be better to use the chicken breast. The only thing I did differently was use 1/2 teaspoon chilly flakes. And the gharam masala can be found in the Indian/Pakistani grocery.

This is an amazing recipe. The aromas that filled our home while cooking this were wonderful. Only one change I made and that was the omission of the garam masala since I couldn't find it at my supermarket. As good as this came out though, I'm not sure if I would go the extra mile to add it next time. There will certainly be a next time!

Delicious! Packed with wonderful flavor. Next time make this I might double the sauce to make it creamier over rice.

Every time I make a "Bal" recipe, it's our new favorite. My husband and I couldn't believe how flavorful this was!... not to mention super healthy. I should mention that I used the recipe from her cookbook, which uses 3/4 cup of yogurt (I used nonfat Greek and 1/4 cup of water. I don't know how much difference that would make compared to this ratio, but I'm all about the creamy yogurt!

This was sooooo easy and Yummy! I read reviews and adjusted the recipe by using subbing h2o with chicken broth and only using 3/4 cup.Very flavorful enough sauce for cauliflower but i just added into the pot. Five picky eaters and they all loved it!
Thanks Bal

This is a fantastic recipe!! My whole family loves it!! I am so excited to find that I can cook this dish at home, and it's easily every bit as good as my favorite Indian restaurant. This has become a staple at our house, great recipe, you must try!! Now, a quick note about the previous reviewer's comment about the dish being too bland....I do not find this to be the case at all. This has a wonderfully complex flavor of spices. What I would suggest is making sure that your spices are not old, because if you cook this to a "T", it is anything but bland. As it happens, I do cut back a bit on the red pepper flakes for my son, but even then, it's got a wonderful flavor. He loves this recipe. Love it!
