Place the corn in large saucepan. Add the boiling water and soak for about 1 hour.
Add the milk, butter, sugar and salt to the saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover and simmer until the corn is tender, 30 minutes. Serve warm.
For a vegetarian version of these buns you can replace the meat with finely chopped button mushrooms and use vegetable stock for cooking the buns.
