This is very similar to the recipe my family has always made. However we add fennel seeds or large amounts of pepper and either make them so delicious!

After watching the episode, I was taken with the idea of this little dipping bread with wine. I followed the recipe exactly as written and was terribly disappointed. It seems that there may be a few, essential ingredients missing! In reviewing other recipes online for taralli, most include eggs and some kind of leavening agent. This recipe delivers an unappealing, beige dough that does not brown or crisp even after 40 minutes in the oven! I'm sorry to say that I wasted an hour and a half, a cup of good olive oil, and flour.
