This exactly how my Italian Mother-in-law taught me to make Limoncello! So many recipes call for vodka! This is a huge hit in our house and with all our friends and family. Just have to remind them its a sipping drink. No shots!!

Ater falling in love with the home-made Limoncello served in several Roman restaraunts last spring, I was determined to give it a try. Most explained that they used grain alchohol. I made my first batch of this limoncello about 2 months ago and we can't stop drinking it! It is amazing, but strong. I also tried using Domino's "light" sugar (sugar & splenda blend for the simple syrup -- so it is even low calorie!! Given that everclear is 190 proof and you are diluting it by half with the simple syrup and it becomes 95 proof, you could still dilute with a little more simple syrup & it would be great! Already making my next (DOUBLE batch. YUM. Great for holiday gifting.

This recipe tells us to put the lemon peels in a jar for two weeks as the first step. No mention of when to add the alcohol. Fortunately I saw the show and know that it is added in with the peels at the beginning. Looking forward to trying it.

Limoncello is definitely my favorite drink and I have tasted many varieties here in the states as well as in Italy and this recipe definitely reminded me of the better quality Limoncellos in Italy. I don't want to ever buy another bottle here in the states now that I've tasted this recipe. So easy to make and I'm getting ready to make my second batch. For my liking the first batch was a little on the strong side, as the chefs explain, so I'll add a little more sugar to my second batch. Love the show too!!!

A friend brought back a small bottle of limoncello from Italy earlier this year and when I saw the episode with the recipe, we figured we'd make it for family Christmas gifts. We found flask-style glass bottles with stoppers and made cute labels and bottled them last week. This recipe turned out great! Strong and tummy warming on a cold day. Even better than the stuff from Italy!

I have tried several recipes for limoncello, searching for the one that tasted more authentic and similar to what I had in Italy, a recipe from my friend's family kitchen in Milan. This is it! Bravo!

We just tasted ours and it is fantastic. A little strong, but a great lemon flavor. Just need to find bottles.

I have had this at a cocktail lounge and love it. So refreshing! I can only hope my home-made batch tastes half as good. Thanks so much for the recipe.

I am so excited! We have made a batch of both lemon and orange. I can not wait until Sun. as that is the day we can FINALLY TASTE. I am hoping someone can tell me where to get pint sized bottles w/corks as I can not seem to locate. Or any other inexpensive, small storage options will be much appreciated.
