This classic mix of poppy and sesame seeds, onion, garlic and salt works with, well, just about everything. You can add it to soft breadsticks to replicate that authentic bagel flavor, but we'd recommend it in any number of applications: on a baked potato, coating a chicken breast, topping a salad, mixed into a pasta dish, sprinkled over potato pancakes... the options are endless.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon pretzel salt or other coarse salt

Directions

Toast the sesame seeds in a medium skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to a small bowl. Cook's Note

Try this spice blend sprinkled and baked on flatbread or sprinkled on grilled chicken or warm buttered popcorn; or stir it into sour cream and mayonnaise as a dip for pretzel crisps.
