Love this version of Alfredo, including the nutmeg.

I don't know who came up with the idea of putting nutmeg in this dish but it completely ruins it. The original recipe for Alfredo, made by the Italian chef who developed this dish for his pregnant wife who couldn't eat anything, NEVER had nutmeg in it. It was simply butter and cheese. PLEASE stop putting nutmeg in this. I always check with a restaurant if I order alfredo to make sure they don't add nutmeg. It was never in this dish and has no place in there. There......I feel better. Giada....you should know better.

This is one of my favorite recopies to make. For those who want a slightly lighter version, I use a mixture of evaporated milk and 2% milk. The lemon juice does all the work thickening the sauce making the heavy cream unnecessary. I like to top my pasta with Cajun-grilled chicken, diced bacon, and parsley. It's a big hit with both family and friends.
