Freakin' Frita

ingredients

SAUCE:
  • 1 cup prepared barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup guava marmalade
FRITA PATTIES:
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 pound ground chorizo
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle pepper powder
THE PLATE:
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 6 eggs, fried

Directions

For the sauce: Combine the barbecue sauce, guava marmalade and mustard in a medium bowl and mix well. Set aside.

For the frita patties: Mix together the ground chuck, chorizo, all-purpose seasoning, chipotle powder, cayenne, garlic, red peppers and onions and form into six equal patties. Cook the patties to the desired level of doneness on a grill or stovetop.

For the plate: Slice the bread loaf from top to bottom to create two equal halves. Then create "buns" to match the size of the frita patties. Place one bread slice down and place a cooked patty on top. Lay a slice of Swiss cheese, some onions, some sauce and a fried egg on the patty. Top with the other Cuban bread slice and you've got yourself a "Freakin' Frita!" Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
