My nougat was gritty, too. But I know what I did wrong. Kelsey should have told us to stir the sugar mixture very, very carefully so as not to get any undissolved sugar around the top of the mixture and sticking to the side of the pan. If you do, get a kitchen brush soaked with water and rub over the crystals until they dissolve and go back into the cooking mixture. Do the same with the caramel, too. I learned that from Giada. The taste is great and I'll be making these again. Maybe with not peanut butter in the nougat, just 1/3 cup more fluff.

Just made these and they came out great! I added a few more peanuts to the caramel then it said, but that's just because I like a lot of nuts. As long as you fallow instructions there should be no reason they should be gritty. Next time I wanna play with the flavor combo. Haven't decided what yet but I'm excited!

The nougat flavor was very good, but the texture was gritty.

I made these delicious candy bars twice, with the help of my two daughters and niece. Yes, they are time consuming, but it is a super fun recipe to make. The kids have a blast helping. Make sure you have a good candy thermometer, for sure. We think they are better than a Snicker bar. We will be making these bars again over the Thanksgiving break, as requested by the girls.

This recipe was extremely labor intensive, but absolutely delicious. Make sure you have a really, really tall pot for the caramel. My caramel was at the very top of the pot, and it was the biggest pot I had. I also omitted the peanuts, but the peanut flavor is very apparent in the nougat. The nougat reminds me of peanut butter fudge. Doing a taste test with a m---y w-y bar, this recipe was better!

If my 13 year old hadn't been watching this episode with me I never would have tackled candy bars. But I'm glad I did. These were really good. They're a little tricky in that you really have to watch the temperature of the nougat and carmel so that it doesn't over cook. We omitted the peanuts in the carmel layer but you could still taste the peanut from the nougat. Might try changing the flavors next time to get a different taste than the peanut flavor.
