This was a very delicious way to prepare potatoes. I did have to cook it more than the stated time because of the liquid content. I did not have fresh herbs so I did use dry herbs in place and it worked out fine. Also like a previous reviewer has said be careful of the salt. The beef broth can be salty to begin with so you defiantly want to taste it before adding in your salt.

This is a great way to serve potatoes. Easy to prepare and a homey, comforting dish that offers many ways to vary its flavors. Change the herb, add several, use a different broth, they're all good.

The recipe & video recipe were written wrong, I think, but even so, this dish turned out fantastic. I made a half-batch but the liquid never cooked out at 300, even after almost 3 hrs, so I turned it up to 350 for 45 min and it finally cooked down. I also had to use parsley b/c I didn't have thyme but my guest & I were wowed by this dish. It is so rich & creamy & decadent. Yum. Warning to others...be careful of the salt content. I used low-sodium beef broth but did put tiny bits of salt on the layers & in the onions & it was too much (and I love salt. Can't wait to try other recipes by Laura Calder!
