Just made my second batch tonight. :
This is THE BEST scone recipe I have tried; pretty darn quick, easy, tender, good flavor - right from the oven or when cool.
For both batches, I used butter instead of margarine, 'cause that's what I had; also a little less sugar, and light sour cream. I shaped the second batch into a rounded square, because I wanted to cut the scones into small squares (for an animal shelter bake sale. Came out great.
These are so, SO good! Thank you for sharing, grandma Peggy! :

Saw this episode and thought to give it a try ... love scones and have been baking and eating them for over 40 years. Though this recipe is easy, it is lacking... First, too much flour; I'd use 2 cups sifted APF and substitute margarine for butter for more flavor. I'd add vanilla and/or cinnamon to give it more flavor. These scones are good when hot from the oven; hrs. later not so much! Hard and yuckie.
