Didn't the recipe say to line with parchment paper? After I waited for the cakes to cool completely, i cut out the centers and felt the bottom of the cakes...To my complete dismay they were completely soggy due to the parchment paper. I greased the entire pan and placed the parchment on the bottom of the pan. Would like to know what I did wrong. The cake was cooked properly. Oh well, wanted to bring it to 4th of July party.

I printed out the recipe as given on the web site; and as I always do before baking, I read the recipe thoroughly.

Unfortunately, the recipe is not complete - the last sentence ends with "an" - I suppose it is saying to continue to alternate white with red icing; but I would like to see that in print. Please complete the recipe.

And, I do not understand how others have commented when the recipe is not complete. Just guessed, I suppose and that could be why they don't like the icing.

Very easy to make, but WAYYYY too much frosting. I didn't decorate it as they suggested (I tie dyed with red and blue and had over half left over, which was OK because it tasted amazing and my niece ate from the bowl with a spoon haha. The cake had a good taste to it but texture was very thick. I'd make again if having a large party

Ok the cake part came out ok. But the icing was a 100 percent bomb. The icing was too thin. We tried refrigeration. We tried adding flour; we tried adding sugar. I wish I would have gone with commercial icing. Because the icing constantly melted the cake looked like crap. We took a quick picture and are now choosing to forget this fiasco! FOR ANYONE DOING THIS RECIPE, Use commercial icing. The icing in this recipe is atrocious and a joke, and will ruin the entire effect.
