      Directions

      Preheat the oven to broil and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

      Place the green beans on the tray, add the onions, capers, garlic, soy sauce, and vegetable oil over the beans; gently toss to combine. Broil in the oven until the beans are tender, edges are crispy and have absorbed the soy sauce, about 15 minutes.

        We used this as the side rather than the snap peas with the cajun blackened steak (see our review of that). This is a scrumptious and simple way to prepare fresh green beans. The tang of the capers and the soy are wonderfully paired with the onions and garlic. Either broil in the oven as Roger says, or wrap in foil and bake on the barbeque, which enhances their smokey flavour.
