I loved this recipe. It was also a hit with the family. I used pork loin instead of pork shoulder and threw it all in the crock pot to cook while I was at work. I also loved the touch of the red onion pickled in lime. The Mexican influence was duely noted in the levels of flavors. I would make this again.

Don't know why other reviewers didn't enjoy this recipe - we found it tasty and with a lovely depth of flavour. I did use a large handful of sweet raisins, but certainly didn't find the end result at all bitter. Will definitely make again, as my family loved it.

I agree with Number One Foodie, it was a bitter. I added a few ingredients and made MOLE out if it.

After watching this episode I was intrigued by all of these interesting products combined into one sauce. My end product was a super bitter melange of earthy flavors. The flavor was vey unbalanced and I had to add several Tablespoons of agave nectar to make it even palatable. I would not make this recipe again and I would advise against anyone else doing so.
