    I guess I put too much faith in evieroux's review (Eileenbecause I made this cake tonight because I like to cook items with a different twist too and having stout beer in a coffee cake was pretty unusual. I am an avid baker but I was disappointed. Because you had a disclaimer on the recipe, I assume the recipe was never tested. My husband who loves anything that's called a coffee cake also did not like it. The oatmeal and currants were not visible in the cake but the stout flavor was definitely detected. I could not find caraway seeds in this small town I am temporarily living in. Baking took one hour in a tube pan. What baffles me is why do people write reviews and give it 5 stars when they haven't even made the recipe?
