Combine the gin, cranberry juice, Brown Sugar Syrup, wine, lime juice and bitters in a metal cocktail shaker and top with ice. Shake vigorously, and then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Over the coupe glass, spritz the peel in front of a lit match to flame. Slide the flamed peel into the drink to garnish.
In small skillet, bring the sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature before bottling for later use.
