Best in Chow: North America's Best Pizza
Host Cris Nannarone is traveling across Canada and the United States in search of the ultimate pizza to be named Best in Chow. Which one of these pies is the upper crust?
At Il Centro in Calgary, Canada, the Stuzzichina Pizza is topped with thin, salty slices of prosciutto, tomato and bocconcini (small balls of mozzarella).
Prosciutto e Rucola
Also in Calgary is Pulcinella, an authentic Napoletana-styled pizzeria. This pictured pie is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, arugula, prosciutto, Parmesan and basil.
Truffled Mushroom Pizza
One might be surprised by Cris' stop in the college town of Tempe, Ariz., but if there's one thing students know, it's good pizza. La Bocca's Truffled Mushroom Pizza (topped with sauteed mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, goat cheese, mozzarella and fresh spinach drizzled with white truffle oil) gets an A+.
Pulled Pork BBQ Pizza
So many pies, so little time. At Oregano's in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Cris has a hard time deciding which pie to try and ends up going with the Pulled Pork BBQ Pizza.
Steak Nacho Pizza
At Dimo's in Chicago, it's not all deep-dish pizza, but it is out-of-the-box. Cris is pumped to try the Steak Nacho Pizza, topped with carne asada, pico de gallo, tortilla strips, cheddar cheese, sour cream and salsa verde.
Burt's Place in Chicago serves up classic Chicago deep-dish pizza, and this Pepperoni-Sausage Pizza is a customer favorite.
Cris holds up a salami- and basil-topped 'Njuda Pizza from Coalfire in Chicago.
