International Biscuit Festival, Here We Come!

International Biscuit Festival

Bring on the biscuits.

This weekend, we're heading down to the  International Biscuit Festival in Knoxville, TN. This celebration of home-cooking centers on "the most perfect of foods," the biscuit. It will truly be a biscuit lover's heaven, with a biscuit breakfast, biscuit cook-off, biscuit boulevard and more. Here are just a few of the highlights:

Biscuit Benefit Dinner

Friday night is highlighted by an event that gives back: the Biscuit Benefit Dinner. This fund raising event will benefit the Festival's charity partners Share Our Strength and Second Harvest, working together to eliminate childhood hunger in our country. The meal is hosted by Blackberry Farm and features guest chef Michelle Bernstein, a James Beard Foundation award-winning chef from Miami, FL. Bernstein is known for her Latin-style flavors of cooking, so it should be interesting to see the menu she puts together for the Biscuit dinner!

Friday, May 27th, at 7 p.m.
Fat Elvis Biscuit
Biscuit Bake-Off

The search for the best biscuit around comes to a close Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Biscuit Bake-Off. Finalists in four categories (traditional biscuits, dessert biscuits, most creative biscuit, and kids’ biscuits) will compete for prizes.  Last year’s Grand Champion was the “Fat Elvis Biscuit,” a Peanut Butter, Banana and Bacon delight pictured above.

Saturday, May 28th, at 1 p.m.
Biscuit Boulevard

Take a walk through the Biscuit tasting area. One ticket allows you to sample the Biscuit offerings of some of the best Biscuit bakers around, all vying for the title of Best Biscuit!

Saturday, May 28th, at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Miss and Mr. Biscuit Pageant

Who will take home the coveted crown of Miss/Mr. Biscuit? Be sure to check out the Miss and Mr. Biscuit pageant to find out. Contestants will be judged on Biscuit Making Fashion, Poise, and a Biscuit-related Talent.

Saturday, May 28th, at 2 p.m.

There's plenty more biscuit goodness to check out at the Festival on May 26th, 27th, and 28th: Stop by for a Biscuit Breakfast or Biscuit Brunch; catch some live tunes Thursday night at the Pre Heat Show or catch a performance by the Black Lillies on Saturday night.
