The World's Most Expensive Cocktail

Have you ever been in a bar and found yourself shocked to learn that a mixed drink was twelve or thirteen bucks? Well hold on to your liquor-soaked, hats because a world-renowned mixologist has just created a drink that costs over 700 times that. That's a lot of beer nuts.
Celebrated drink-maker Salvatore Calabrese put together the beverage as part of London's cocktail week. He is calling it Salvatore's Legacy Cocktail and the price clocks in at a whopping $8,500. That's about the cost of a sensible used car or around a full year's salary for a lowly food blogger (Hey, wait a minute.)
What makes it so pricey? Let's run down some of the ingredients: a cognac that dates back to 1788 and some baby-faced liqueurs from the recent year of 1860. It also features a light dusting from the Hope Diamond and a few of Abraham Lincoln's beard shavings. Okay, maybe not those last two. The drink does have some bitters from the early 1900s, though. Bitters only grow more bitter with age. Insert ex-spouse joke here.
The result of these fanciful and ancient ingredients? A record-setting price tag. Guinness swooped in on the drink maker and pronounced his concoction the worlds most expensive mixed drink. The previous record holder was a $6,000 cocktail featured at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai.
