Chicago Opens Alcohol-Free Bar
When you think of hanging out at a bar with friends, does your mind drift immediately to the dartboard? Do you longingly daydream about that ancient Donkey Kong cabinet lurking in the corner? If you think of anything but alcohol, there's a new bar for you.
Chicago’s The Other Side has everything you’d want in a cozy neighborhood dive bar, except alcohol. There are comfy couches, a pool table, video games and even a stage for live music. The bar was opened by New Directions Recovery Service, a nonprofit organization that treats addiction. Dan Reed, who had the idea for the project, says that there was simply nowhere for sober people to go to socialize. Check it out if you are in the mood to drink Red Bulls sans vodka or whiskey drinks without that pesky whiskey.
