The World's Biggest Fruit Salad

You know what they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Does this work exponentially? If we were to eat two apples would it force two doctors away? If we gorged on 100 could we scare away every doctor in a 20-mile radius? Students and staff at UMass Amherst tested that theory this week by making the world's biggest fruit salad.

All in all, in clocked in at an amazing 15,000 pounds and was mixed in a large swimming pool. It included 20 varieties of apple and 19 varieties of melon. The salad also contained peaches, bananas, oranges and berries as well as more exotic fruits including quince, passion fruit and rambutan. By all accounts, it was tasty.

A Guinness representative was on hand to certify the record and go for a quick swim in 3,500 pounds of apples. Just kidding about that last part. That's what I would have done though.
