The most stressful part of eating out is calculating (and then paying) the bill. It's like that feeling you get when you realize your vacation is over and work starts again in twenty minutes. Only technology could save us from this food coma-fueled mathematical quandary — and that technology might just have arrived.

Introducing Cover, a smartphone app that actually calculates and the pays the bill. It keeps track of what you order, adds tax and gratuity and settles that tab via a credit card — no human intervention or long division required. It even splits the bill with friends and all of that other socially acceptable jazz. Cover is currently free for iOS, with an Android version on the way.

The only downside to this culinary innovation? Restaurants have to actually sign up for the service, which means it is only available at several eateries as of this writing. Most of them are in New York City. Now, if only this app also automatically paid for a plane ticket and an Airbnb.
