Meatless Monday: Oscars Party Food

Meatless Monday is a global movement, a way of life. It’s not a campaign to turn everyone in the world vegetarian or vegan; in fact, many involved are meat-lovers. Eating less meat has been proven to reduce the risk of disease, curb obesity and has important environmental impacts, too. Will you join us in giving up meat, just for one day a week?
The silver screen's biggest names will strut down the red carpet on Sunday as Hollywood doles out its coveted little gold men. If you plan to root for your favorite actors and films in style, break out the bow ties and sequins and throw your own star-studded soirée, showcasing A-list hors d'oeuvres like these elegant puff pastry tarts. Assembling them won't require any movie magic, just spinach, Italian cheeses and a box of frozen pastry shells. The flaky, savory bites will make your guests feel like the night's real winners, even if they're not walking off with a shiny statuette.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Line a heavy large baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the frozen pastry shells on the baking sheet and bake until they puff and become golden brown, about 20 minutes. Using a small knife, cut out the center of the pastry shells.
Meanwhile, stir the cream, milk, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Stir in the spinach, Fontina cheese, Parmesan, and green onions. Spoon the spinach mixture into the baked pastry shells. Bake until the pastries are golden brown and the filling is hot, about 25 to 30 minutes. Transfer the pastries to a platter and serve.
