Today in Food Tech: Smart Egg Tray and a Popcorn-Friendly Microwave

You may not be able to eat microchips (yet), but that doesn't mean the worlds of food and high technology can't get along splendidly. Researchers and inventors are rushing out more kitchen gadgets than any other time in history. Let's take a look at a couple of new ones, shall we?

First up, something you've never asked for in your entire life. You have a smartphone, but do you have a smart egg tray? It's called Egg Minder and it does what the name suggests. It keeps track of how many eggs are in your tray so you don't have to go through the laborious task of counting them! Okay, so it does a lot more than that. It also lets you know which is the oldest, thus ensuring you cook those up first. You can snag one for just under sixty bucks.

Next, a microwave that makes sure you don't burn your popcorn for the billionth time. You read that right. Finally, there's a microwave that takes user error into account and, considering users are typically zoned out on Netflix, that's a good thing. It actually listens to the popcorn and knows when to stop based on how many kernels are popping. Making microwave popcorn without  burning it can be a gargantuan task, akin to attending a family reunion or something. This special Whirlpool-made microwave retails at $419.
