Frozen Friday: Iced Coffee

By: Camilla Brandfield-Harvey

We're in for a long, hot summer. So to stave off heat stroke, we're bringing you our favorite summer treats each week as part of Frozen Friday, giving you the scoop on our favorite ice-cold recipes and party ideas to help you stay cool all summer long.

Over half of all Americans over age 18 drink coffee every day and 30 million of those consumers drink specialty lattes and mochas. Clearly we all know how to  live drink it up. We also like to keep things fresh, especially on long summer days. Before your next coffee break, we've sought out some of the most creative and tasty iced caffeine kicks to keep you satisfied and energized while the sun is high.

1. Cinnamon Dolce Iced CoffeeKitchen Treaty combines cold-brewed coffee with her homemade maple-brown-sugar syrup and half-and-half for this iced spiced sip (pictured above). 2. Iced Almond-Macadamia Milk Latte: Inspired by the lauded G & B Coffee latte in LA, Some Kitchen Stories tries her hand at the homemade nut milk drink. The addition of dates gives the almond-macadamia combo a silky finish and a sweet complement to the double espresso.

3. Cacao-Raspberry Iced Coffee: Running to the Kitchen pulls out all the stops for this afternoon delight with mashed fresh raspberries, frothed milk and cacao nib toppings.

4. Vanilla-Cinnamon Iced CoffeeThe Novice Chef prepares a fine vanilla bean syrup to add as needed to her strong, cold-brewed coffee, then tops it off with creamy half-and-half for a morning-to-night drink.

5. Mocha Coconut Iced Coffee: How Sweet It Is skips the line at the coffee shop to craft this on-and-off-the-menu latte. With a chocolate syrup bottom, coffee and coconut milk center and whipped coconut cream topping (not to mention the toasted coconut and chocolate garnish), this could pull double duty on both the drinks and desserts menus.
