When you think about  summer party planning, backyard barbecues probably come to mind, but there are other fun themes you can try, too. When it really heats up, try staying in the air conditioning while playing a friendly game of poker with your friends.

While the adults are wheeling and dealing, it's important to keep the younger crowd out of the way. One of the easiest ways to keep the kids busy is making a fun game like cornhole or something interactive like DIY Play-Doh. Check out some of Good to Know hosts Laurie March and Dan Pashman's best tips below.

This can be done indoors or outdoors, and you can mix and match the colors of the beanbags. Adults can also join in for a night of family fun.

If the kids are busy coloring and having fun with each other, they shouldn't get in your hair too much.

This easy Fun-Dough recipe will entertain the kids for hours — maybe even after the party ends.
