Thirsty Thursday: I Can’t Believe It’s Not Cheesecake Cocktail

Your mom probably used to tell you not to eat too many sweets, but sometimes we have to make exceptions. For me and my mom, that exception is cheesecake. If you need an excuse to spoil mom this weekend for Mother’s Day, make a decadent drink that brings together all the goodness of cheesecake in a cocktail.
Start this cocktail with a base of tangy buttermilk to replicate cheesecake’s rich flavor and creaminess. Next, add some sweet amaretto and hazelnut liqueur to the cocktail shaker with a strip of lemon peel for a citrusy accent. Shake on ice, and pour into glasses rimmed with cream cheese and textured graham cracker crumbs. After all, what is cheesecake without a graham cracker crust? Finally, finish with a strawberry garnish for a delicious, indulgent beverage.
- Ice
- 2 ounces buttermilk
- 1 ounce amaretto
- 1 ounce hazelnut liqueur
- 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
- One 2-inch lemon peel
- Cream cheese, softened, for rimming
- Crushed graham crackers, for rimming
- Strawberry, for garnish
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the buttermilk, amaretto, hazelnut liqueur, brown sugar, and lemon peel. Shake vigorously until well mixed. Meanwhile, rim a glass in cream cheese, followed by crushed graham crackers. Pour the cocktail and garnish with a strawberry perched on the rim.
