How to Make Smoked Salmon

Never made smoked salmon from scratch? No worries, we have all the information you need to get started, along with recipes to put your new skills to work.

Smoking salmon at home is easier than you think, especially with easy and useful techniques guaranteed to help achieve maximum flavor.

The Three Types to Smoking:

1. Cold Smoking: Used to enhance flavor, cold smoking salmon may not cook the fish through, but once it's baked, grilled, roasted or sauteed the smoky flavor will shine.

2. Hot Smoking: Used to both enhance flavor and cook proteins through, hot smoking is a great way to make salmon that's brimming with flavor and tenderness.

3. Smoke Roasting or Smoke Baking: Much like it sounds, smoke roasting and smoke baking combine two cooking methods into one, flavor-charged process. Don't be surprised if you hear them refered to as barbecueing, pit baking or pit roasting.
