Anthony Bourdain's Bio

Anthony Bourdain is a celebrity chef, world traveler, bestselling author, and host of several television shows, including A Cook’s Tour on Cooking Channel. He is best known for his deep culinary and cultural knowledge, as well as his often biting and critical observations of the world's most exotic dishes and culinary traditions.

Currently the executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in New York City, he has also run the kitchen at many other Manhattan restaurants such as Sullivan’s, Supper Club and One Fifth Avenue.

Not your typical celebrity chef, Bourdain is also an accomplished author, having written three crime novels, a cookbook and several bestsellers. Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly is Bourdain’s candid, hilarious and often shocking portrait of life in restaurant kitchens that has been translated into more than 28 languages. The follow-up, Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook, continues where he left off, with even more insider's perspective on the restaurant business.

His other books include A Cook’s Tour, Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles Cookbook, The Nasty Bits, crime novels Bone in the Throat and The Bobby Gold Stories and No Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach.

Bourdain studied at Vassar College and graduated from the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America. He resides in Manhattan with his wife, Ottavia, and his daughter, Ariane.
