2 cups water, preferably filtered, room temperature

Place the coffee grounds into the coffee press and pour over the water, stirring to combine. Let sit until the coffee grounds float to the surface, about 10 minutes, and then stir again to incorporate. Cover the press tightly with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for 24 hours.
Remove the plastic wrap and insert the French press lid into the coffee press. Slowly press to separate the liquid from the grounds. Pour the coffee into a pitcher and stir in water, to taste, and the salt. Add the ice.
