Dead Man Oaxacan

2 ounces mescal

3/4 ounce agave nectar

3/4 ounce lime juice

3/4 ounce mole-orange liqueur (equal parts mole sauce and orange liqueur)

3/4 ounce mole-orange liqueur (equal parts mole sauce and orange liqueur) 

Dried Mexican oregano

Ice, for chilling and serving

Chapuli (fried crickets), for garnish, optional


  1. Combine the mescal, agave, lime juice, mole-orange liqueur and some oregano in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a lowball glass filled with ice. Garnish with chapuli, if desired.
