4 fresh basil leaves, plus 1 leaf for garnish

2 ounces tequila, such as Don Julio

1/2 ounce lime juice

1/2 ounce pineapple juice

1/2 ounce simple syrup

1 dash bitters, such as Peychaud's

Ice, for chilling

Crispy prosciutto or bacon, for garnish

Pinch cayenne pepper


  1. Add 4 of the basil leaves to a cocktail shaker and muddle. Add the tequila, lime juice, pineapple juice, simple syrup and bitters. Fill with ice and shake. Strain into a rocks glass with one large cube of ice. Garnish with prosciutto or bacon and a basil leaf and sprinkle with a pinch of cayenne.
