1 package active dry yeast

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon sugar

1 cup warm water

2 eggs

1 1/4 cups flour

1 1/2 cups corn oil

Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

  1. Dissolve the yeast, salt and sugar in the warm water. Stir in the eggs and flour, blending well. Cover and let rise in a warm area until bubbly and doubled in size, about 90 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil in a 6-inch shallow fry pan with 1-inch sides to 375 degrees F.
  3. Drop level tablespoons of dough into the oil, cooking 4 at a time. Fry each side until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  4. Drain well on paper towels, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar while hot. Serve warm.
