Ready for Your Close-Up

In this episode we will look at the art of food photography and the people who make it. We will meet award-winning portrait photographer and author Melanie Dunea as she photographs Bill Telepan for the follow up to her 2007 book MY LAST SUPPER. We will also see behind the scenes of a food photo shoot done by food stylist Brian Preston-Campbell and food photographer Tom Schierlitz.

Up on the Roof

In this episode we will Andrew Cote one of New York's original beekeepers who tends to over 100 hives in New York City. We will also meet urban farmer Annie Novak who is the co-founder of a 6,000 square foot organic farm located on a warehouse rooftop on the shoreline of the East River.

Please Don't Pass the Nuts

In this episode we will see how actress Jennifer Esposito has dealt with having Celiac's Disease by developing her line of gluten-free baking products. We will also meet Sloane Miller A/K/A Allergic Girl whose blog, Please Don't Pass the Nuts, has become the central hub for information about coping with food allergies for food allergy-sufferers.

Now You See It, Now You Don't

This episode goes behind-the-scenes of The Hunger, a pop-up restaurant series run by chef Camille Becerra and her partner, New York foodie and blogger Alan Philips. We will also meet Lauren Gerrie and Flannery Klette-Kolton, the owners of the bigLITTLE Supper Club who put on a Roaring 20's themed dinner party for their clients.

Neighborhood Eats

Al Roker hits the road with Famous Fat Dave, a New York food tour guide who takes Al on a food tour of Harlem. We also go to the food carts that have been nominated for this year's Vendy Awards, the annual competition and festival that celebrates the best in New York street food.

In this episode we follow former boxing champion Laila Ali who is dedicated to educating young people, about the importance of healthy diet, whether they are future professional athletes or not. We also meet personal chef Adam Kelinson, the author of The Athlete's Plate cookbook.

Extreme Diets

In this episode we meet two practitioners of unconventional diets. Artist Marc Dennis hosts dinner parties featuring dishes prepared with insects. Designer Stacey Jackson is a fruitarian who forages for fruit throughout Los Angeles.

Food Safety 101

Each year hundreds of thousands of people are hospitalized due to foodborne illnesses. This episode examines the issue of food safety. We meet Haylee, 17, a survivor of E.coli and food safety expert Richard Vergili. We also hear from Dr. Marion Nestle, a leading expert in food safety regulation.

Cravings

In this episode Mark Garrison and Dan Pashman, hosts of the popular podcast The Sporkful, explore what foods we crave and why we crave them. For their podcast, Mark and Dan seek the help of diet specialist Louis Aronne, MD and also go to the lab of Dr. Gene-Jack Wang who uses state-of -the-art brain imaging to see which parts of the brain trigger cravings.

In this episode we meet Chef Tim Cipriano who has brought farm-fresh food into the Connecticut school system. We also meet students at a New Haven High School who took matters into their own hands and planted gardens in order to have healthier school lunches.

New Orleans chef and restauranteur John Besh takes Al Roker on a tour of his hometown to see how the local seafood and restaurant industry is rebounding from the devastating effects of the Gulf oil spill. And twenty of the world's top chefs converge on the city to get a taste of some local Louisiana fare.

This City is Going on a Diet

With one of the highest obesity rates in the country, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett launched a call to action - "This City Is Going On A Diet". Over the course of two months, we follow two sets of weight loss journeys set here in the Midwest: one fast food bachelor who is an aspiring country singer, and one fun-loving family hooked on sugar and butter.

Fountain of Youth

We investigate two extreme diets that could possibly slow down the aging process and reset our biological clock. We meet one couple who is part of a growing society that dramatically restricts their calories to half that of the average American in the hopes of living longer. We also track one forty year-old athlete who believes his strict raw food diet to be his secret weapon to out-run men half his age.
