Place the ribs bone-side down over low heat on a charcoal grill, keeping the grill at least 5 inches above the coals, or in a smoker over low heat.
Cook the ribs until golden brown, and then turn over and cook the meat side until done and the interior temperature is 160 degrees F, about 1 hour 30 minutes, basting with the BBQ sauce mixture throughout to keep the ribs moist and the flame down. Another way to tell if they are done is to hold the ribs at one end and see if the meat starts to separate from the bone.
Just prior to serving, partially cut the ribs along the bone so the meat is on one side only.
After cutting the ribs, baste again with the BBQ mixture, and sprinkle some more BBQ seasoning over the ribs and serve. If you want to add more BBQ sauce, mix more into the vinegar and BBQ sauce mixture and serve on the side.
