In a large cast-iron skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat for about 8 minutes, until crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels; set aside.
Add the onions to the bacon drippings in the skillet and cook, stirring often, until caramelized, about 5 minutes, then remove and set aside along with the bacon.
Add the okra to the skillet along with the salt and pepper. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring once gently, until the okra is tender.
Add the bacon, onions, and tomatoes and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Serve warm.
